Diet For MenShould there be a different diet for men and women? If you and your girlfriend or wife have ever gone on a diet together you know that men and women often get different results from any special diet. Another factor often overlooked is that we all are different in metabolism and lifestyle so those often are important factors too. And everyone makes good progress in the first week or ten days, it after that the different results start showing. Most men have less body fat and up to 20 percent more muscle than women. When you look at adult women and men that are over weight you'll notice that men have a tendency to gain weight around the stomach whereas women will gain weight in the buttocks, hips, and legs. This also can be a big factor in any weight loss efforts. Any good diet for men should take these factors into consideration when designing the basics. Insuring that whatever foods are included in any diet plan are both healthy and nutritious. . Men DietsA lot of men diets include a healthy amount of weight lifting. From dumbbells to bench pressing, weight lifting helps in two ways. It tones and increases muscle, and it has a long burn time. If you're not familiar with long burn times that's the term for continuing to burn calories for hours after your workout. That's also why you see many new and successful diet programs push extreme workouts, the hard the work out, the longer you will burn calories. Of course you don't want to hurt yourself so you need to work up to the more intense workouts regardless of the type of exercise. A good way to get this kind of long term calorie burn can be as simple as walking a mile and do bursts of fast walking. This strategy appears to work for anyone doing just about any type of exercise. But for men it allows for better muscle tone since they have more muscle mass to start with than women. In fact men, unlike most women, would just as soon have a muscular look than looking thin. Turning that extra 10 pounds of fat into muscle is great for a guy but some women prefer getting rid of the weight rather than turning it into muscle. Men have always been cursed with weight gain around the stomach area. This weight is more difficult to lose for several reasons. It's tough to target due to the nature of the location. There are some known effective men diets that have methods of working on the stomach fat area. Cardio exercise, cutting down on fatty foods, increase the amount of protein (protein foods burn calories during digestion), eating slower and thoroughly chewing food, just to name some good ones. But as far as I know there is no one silver bullet, it's a cumulative effort based on several factors that will work. A good diet for men would be to take some strategies from several well known popular diets and combine them to fit your goals and lifestyle. Reducing or eliminating processed foods can be effective to lower sugar and calorie intake. Portion control helps lower calories for any meal and if you can add more high protein items you won't go hungry. Drinking a full glass of water before a meal helps two ways, it fills up your stomach and convinces your body that it will continue to receive water so it will release more. Increasing your cardio exercise in small ways like taking the stairs rather than the elevator, parking farther away from your destination, eating more whole grains like oatmeal helps with reducing bad cholesterol and is very filling, and if you don't like plain old exercise try out a team sport like softball to increase calorie burning in a fun way. All of these methods can be added to any men diets to increase calorie burning. One important point that often is left out of a diet for men is if you can't stick with whatever diet you choose, it won't be successful long term. Anyone can lose weight on a restricted diet, but as soon as they get off the diet, the weight will come right back. So make sure when you incorporate a method to lose weight, it's one that you can live with over the long term. If it takes a little lifestyle change (some are easy, some are certainly not) try and pick one that you will be able to stick to for the long haul. One of the keys to losing weight and keeping it off is finding the right methods for you. A diet for men that relies on a good basic foundation, realistic goals, and uses ways that you can adapt your lifestyle to is the answer for long term success. We are what we eat so any men diets should be based on healthy and nutritious foods along with exercise.
